ENGLISH V.UNIT 2.FLATTERIES AND COMPLIMENTS.

Objective: The student will use formulas and expressions to flatter.

Content:

Vocabulary:

*Some Adjectives:

Wonderful (Bonito)

Pretty (Bella)

Old (Viejo)

Thin (Delgado)

Serious (Serio)

Noisy (Ruidoso)

We can flatter people, clothe, and things that a person have, it is the most common.

To flater we use:

Adjectives


*Describe nouns.

*Generally appear before the nouns that modify

*Are never plural

*For example.

A good student.

A nice day.

That t-shirt looks good on you

She have a beautiful pink sweater

We also use comparisons

Comparatives and superlatives.

Spelling of comparative and superlative form
adjective
comparative
superlative
For one-syllable adjective add er o est
If the adjective ends in one vowel followed by one consonant, double the last letter
If the adjective ends in consonant “y” change the “y” to “I” and add er o est
If de adjective ends in an “e”, just add r o st

Example

Tall..........Taller than........... The tallest
Thin....... .Thinner than....... The thinnest
Happy.....Happier than...... The happiest
Cute ........Cuter than............The cutest

ENGLISH V. UNIT 6. "FUTURE PLANS"




Objective: The student will exchange information about his future plans.


Content:


Vocabulary


Be going to ... use this to express definitely plans

Will ... use this to express spontaneous decisions or to indicate voluntary actions


Example


Tomorrow I`m going to do an exam


Who will pay the lunch next week? I`ll pay it


The doorbell is ringing, I will answer it


Eve: I`m really looking forward to the picnic tomorrow

Mark: Me too, do you want me to drive this time?

Eve: No, I`ll drive. I won`t drive too fast! I promise. I can`t afford another speeding ticket

Mark: All right. But will you remember to put gas in the car before we go?

Eve: Of course I will. We only ran out of that one time

Mark: OK. So, I`ll buy some sandwiches, potato salad and stuff. Could you bring your beach chairs?

Eve: All right. And I`ll bring my beach umbrella

Mark : Great. And if you want, I`ll call you in the morning and remind you about the gas.

ENGLISH V. UNIT 5. "FORMAL AND INFROMAL INSTRUCCIONS".




Objective: The student will use expresions to give formal and informal instruccions.


Content:


Vocabulary:




  • Can you ... ?


  • Do you mind verb + ing ... ?


  • Would you mind if I ... ?



Use Do you mind verb +ing ... ? to ask for permission




Use Would you mind if I ...? to ask someone to do something, to answer to this question you will use NO to express "agree".




Answer YES for the question Can I ... ? and Could you ... ?




Examples:




Ben : Hello!




Jessica : This is for you, Ben. Are there others here yet?




Ben : Oh, thank you. No , no yet. So just make yourself at home. an take your coat?




Jessica ; Sure. Thanks. This is a great apartment! Do you mind if I look around?




Ben : No, go ahead.




Jessica : Oh, I love this antique table.




Ben : Yeah, it`s great, but it`s not really mine. It`s my mother`s.




Jessica : It`s beautiful.




Ben : Yeah, thanks. Listen, I hate to ask this, but would you mind helping me in the kitchen? I`m runnig a bite late.




Jessica : No, not at all. What can I do?




Ben : Well ... could you chop the onions?




Jessica : No problem. I`m happy to help you.

Use "should" and "ought to" to give or advices.


Estructure

Should (Subject + should +verb + complement)

Ought to (Subject+ ought to + verb + complement)
Should (Should + Subject + verb + complement+ ?)
